Throwback Thursday! Former Child Actors Then and Now

What was so special about our childhood days? It was the movies, kids shows and cartoons. The entertainment industry laid the foundation for us to grow up on and with.

Here’s a quick trip down memory lane:

1. Lindsay Lohan

The actress made her debut in 1998 when she featured in a Disney remake of the 1961 children’s classic family comedy The Parent Trap. She played Hallie Parker and Annie James in the movie.

2. Macaulay Culkin

The adventurous character of Kevin was well played by the young Culkin who is is now trying  his hand at music. He has a band called ‘The Pizza Underground’ which was formed in 2014. His last notable performance was in the 2004 movie Saved.

3. Anna Paquin

She won the Academy Award as the Best Supporting Actress for The Piano, which was her first film. She was eleven years old back then, and made history as only the second youngest winner of an Oscar. She has also worked in other well-known movies like Fly Away Home, Almost Famous, and She’s All That. She is widely known for her role as Rogue in X-Men (2000).

 4. Haley Joel Osment

The actor appeared in the 1999 hit The Sixth Sense alongside Bruce Willis. He was admired for his role as the child who could see dead people in the movie. He has been doing voice acting lately and enjoys playing golf.

5. Jonathan Lipnicki

Did you know that Stuart Little’s big brother is also an ardent animal rights activist? The actor debuted with Jerry McGuire (1996) as Renee Zellweger’s son, starring alongside Tom Cruise. He now prefers to work in independent film projects.

6. Christina Ricci

The creepy Wednesday Addams from The Addams Family won an Emmy Award for her performance in the TV show Grey’s Anatomy. She is now busy with a new TV series called ‘Pam Am’.

7. Mara Elizabeth Wilson

Remember Matilda? Or the sweet little Natalie from Mrs. Doubtfire? Widely known for her two roles, the actress is now into writing novels. She quit film acting as it didn’t allow her the creative freedom she wanted.

8. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen

Who doesn’t remember little Michelle Tanner from the TV series Full House. What a family treat that show was! Well, the Olsen twins are now into fashion and are pretty renowned in the industry. Mary-Kate is especially known for her bohemian style dressing up. They have launched a number of fashion labels and recently released a women’s clothing line called Olsenboye.

9. Dakota Fanning

Best known for her breakthrough performance in I Am Sam in 2002, Dakota Fanning has been featured in some famous movies like War Of The Worlds (2006) and Charlotte’s Web (2006). She is still acting and is in fact loved dearly by her co-stars, young or old, most of who think she’s a gifted actress. When she was only eight years old, she got nominated for the prestigious Screen Actors Guild Award for her outstanding performance in I Am Sam. It made her the youngest nominee in history.

10. Urmila Matondkar

Her first screen appearance was made when she did a role in 1977 film Karm. She was also featured in Kalyug (1980). Three years later, she was recognized and achieved fame for Shekhar Kapoor’s Masoom (1983). She was only nine at the time. She is known to have done some pretty creepy roles as an adult, although they were brilliantly done by the actress. Kaun, Bhoot and Ek Hasina Thi are just a few of them. Her most recent work was featured in a hindi animated movie Delhi Safari that came out in 2012.

11. Sana Saeed

The adorable Anjali from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai fetched the Best Actress award for her performance in Karan Johar’s 1998 film. She’s featured alongside the Bollywood biggies Shahrukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukherjee. She later appeared in Badal and Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega in 2000. Both these films were successful while one of her latest screen appearances in Johar’s Student Of The Year (2012) fetched her a lot of likes as she pouts and flaunts her body as Tanya in the hit.

12. Drew Barrymore

Her supporting role as Gertie in the 1981 classic sci-fi film ET made her famous and earned her recognition as one of the best child actresses in Hollywood. She was nominated for the Golden Globe as The Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Irreconciable Differences (1984) in which she starred as a young child. In 1999, she was commemorated with the Former Child Star “Lifetime Achievement Award” by Young Artists Foundation. She has a pretty established film career and she’s going to appear in a romantic comedy alongside Adam Sandler slated to release this year.
