Sam Smith for Balenciaga Autumn/Winter 2015

We have seen him croon his way into many hearts with songs like ‘Stay With me’ and ‘I’m Not The Only One’. This time we see him in an edgy, quiet and brooding avatar for Balenciaga’s Autumn/Winter 2015 Menswear Collection.

Sam Smith has shown a recent interest in fashion and was spotted backstage at a Burberry Show in February as reported by The Guardian and has since, been announced in July as the face of Balenciaga’s Autumn/Winter 2015 Collection.

“Sam Smith conveys a quiet elegance and a subtle sensuality that are perfect for Balenciaga. He represents both sensitivity and power — the dualities of the Balenciaga man.” says the designer Alexander Wang at a release.

This collection, as the pictures show, have edgy suits, trench coats and almost vicar-type outfits. Although the fusion of music and fashion is not entirely new, it is refreshing to have Sam Smith to front the Balenciaga campaign as compared to the usual super models or teen models.

“I never in my wildest dreams thought I’d be wearing these clothes let alone modelling them. So this is a dream come true, and I hope the beginning of a lovely long relationship with Alexander and the House,” he said in a release.
