1. Bhangarh Fort, India
Often referred to as one of the most spookiest places in the world, Bhangarh is located on the way to Alwar and Jaipur, Rajisthan (India). As per legend, there was a black magic sorcerer who cursed the residents of the palace that they all would die an unnatural death and their spirits will stay there for centuries to haunt the kila forever.
People are not allowed to spend the night in the fort, for obvious reasons. Rumor has it, anybody who has entered its gates after dusk, has never returned..
2. The Island of the Dolls, Mexico
Also known as Isla de las Munecas, this island is located just south of Mexico City in the district of Xochimico. It is said that many years ago a girl was found drowned in mysterious circumstances on this island and that the dolls are possessed by her spirit.
Local legend goes on to say that the dolls move their heads and arms and even opened their eyes. Some witnesses claim they had heard the dolls whispering to each other, while others who were on a boat near the island said the dolls lured them there.
Of course, these witnesses are exaggerating and the island is in no way possessed but the truth is that the Isla de las Munecas is a very creepy place gives every casual visitor the chills.
3. Screaming Tunnel, Canada
This one is for the brave hearts who boast a fearless spirit. It is located beneath the railway track that connects Niagara Falls to Toronto and New York. As per legend, about a century ago there was a farm house located just near the south entrance of this tunnel. One night the farm house caught fire and a young girl doused in flames ran out, screaming for help and running wild. She ran through the tunnel in hope of getting some help, but alas she was burnt completely and collapsed.
So from that day onwards whoever attempts lighting a match in the tunnel, the spirit comes out screaming and haunts the person till the time of death.
4. Changi Beach, Singapore
Changi Beach in Singapore is the ultimate one. It is believed to be a popular killing ground of the Chinese soldiers by the Japanese during the second world war. Thousands of Chinese soldiers were tortured and killed during this operation as they were suspected to be involved in anti-Japanese activities. This beach stands witness to the killing of innumerable innocent chinese.
Till date, beach combers thronging this place claim to hear screams and weeping sounds. Often at night, people have also discovered deep dig pits – the kind needed for burials of dead bodies. The most horrifying is that some beach combers have found headless bodies of Chinese soldiers in the dead of the night.
5. Highgate Cemetery, England
Located in North of London, this place is like watching a horror flick by Alfred Hitchcock. By the time dusk settles, the ultimate horror environment starts to descend on the panorama. Headless statues, creaky pathways, unmanaged grass pavements and lest we forget, the eery sounds of hooting owls.
Highgate cemetery also scores the top slot of being the most haunted place in United Kingdom. Still, one cannot ignore the Gothic architecture, beautiful serene ambiance and well, the shivery silence which overrules the entire arena.
