Tom Ford Launches Ultra-Luxe Velvet High Top Sneakers for Women

Following the lead of fashion industry A-listers like Isabel Marant, Céline, and Chanel, it comes as no surprise that Tom Ford is slipping into the sneaker game.

Designer Tom Ford has come out with a new collection of luxury sneakers at price points ranging as high as nearly $1,000. The new Leather High Top Sneakers come in two colours, black and white. As all the luxury brands do it, the new sneakers are hand-polished and are made of premium Calfskin leather. The leather is taken from the most prized layer of the hide and is hand-tanned to feel super supple.

These ultra chic sneakers will cost $970, well, it’s just hundred dollar costlier than the iPhone 6. Why such high price? Because these aren’t like average tennis shoes. In true Tom Ford fashion, every pair is made in an Italian workshop by an artisan cobbler who spends one full week stitching and polishing, and then 10 days for resting the leather. The shoes are later repolished by hands for three more days. That’s a total of 20 days of work to create just one pair.
